Lyoto Machida wants to fight his way to contention

Thursday, December 11th, 2014

Jose Aldo is a spectacular fighter and he will be too dominant for anyone to beat at the time, given the kind of form he is in, and will prove too much of a handful for Conor McGregor, according to former Ultimate Fighting Championship or UFC Light Heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida.

McGregor was at ring side last month as the UFC Featherweight champion Aldo put in another fighting master class to completely decimate Chad Mendes and according to the Brazilian, the Irishman doesn’t have what it takes to dethrone his compatriot.

Machida said that if anyone compares his fellow Brazilian with the Irishman, Aldo is technically a lot more sound, adding that although McGregor is a very tough fighter  and comes strongly at his opponents, no one can say that he can beat Aldo inside the cage.

The two are completely different and the Brazilian doesn’t feel any regression in the way the Irishman promotes himself, stating that he can promote himself in the way he chooses to and one has to respect that.

Lyoto Machida is coming off a unanimous decision loss at the hands of UFC Middleweight champion Chris Weidman and he will try and climb his way back into the running for another shot at the title, but the Brazilian doesn’t think he will be taking a page out of McGregor’s book to get there faster.

The Brazilian stated that it is not in his style to run his mouth and talk trash against his opponents, and that is not how he wants to get a crack at the title once again. Lyoto Machida mentioned that he is ready to work hard and fight his way back into contention for a shot at the title rather than handed one for running his mouth like Chael Sonnen did.
